Privacy Policy for Telegram Video Download for Android
This policy explains how Telegram Video Download for Android handles your information when you sign in to Telegram, browse media, and save files to your device. It covers both the Google Play version and the APK distributed through our website.
For privacy questions or data requests, contact [email protected].
Telegram sign-in and access
The app connects to Telegram through Telegram's TDLib library. To sign in, you provide your phone number and verification code. If your Telegram account has two-step verification enabled, you also enter your Telegram password. The app passes these details to TDLib to authenticate with Telegram; they are not sent to our update service.
The app uses your existing Telegram account. You do not create a separate account with us. Your Telegram session allows the app to access chats, groups, channels, messages, and media available to your account so that you can browse, preview, and download media.
TDLib also provides Telegram with technical information, including your device model, Android version, application version, and a language code. Telegram receives your IP address when your device connects to its services. Telegram's handling of information is described in the Telegram Privacy Policy.
Information stored on your device
The app stores information needed to provide its features:
- Account information: your Telegram user ID, phone number, display name, and account activity timestamps, used to display and manage your signed-in accounts.
- Telegram session and cached data: session data, chat and message databases, and cached media used to keep you signed in and support browsing, previews, and downloads.
- Download history: the associated account, chat and message identifiers, chat title, file name, file type, file size, progress, status, timestamps, and saved-file location, used to manage downloads and open saved files.
- Preferences: your language, appearance, download settings, selected save folder, and other interface preferences.
Account records, preferences, download history, and TDLib data are stored in the app's private storage. Downloaded media is saved to the public Downloads folder or a folder you choose. On older Android versions, the app may use app-specific storage if storage permission is unavailable.
Files saved to a public or selected folder may be accessible to other apps or people with access to that folder. Device backup and transfer features may also copy app data, depending on your Android version, device, and settings.
Information sent off your device
Telegram authentication, browsing, and media transfers take place between your device and Telegram through TDLib. The app does not upload your Telegram chats, downloaded media, or download history to our update service.
Website APK version: the app can check our update service for a newer release. The request identifies the platform as Android and the distribution channel as the website APK. It does not include your Telegram account details or download history. When you choose to update, Android downloads the APK from the supplied download address. Servers handling these requests receive your IP address and request information, such as the requested resource and HTTP headers, as part of delivering the update.
Google Play version: the app does not use this APK update mechanism. Updates are handled through Google Play under Google's terms and Privacy Policy.
Support: if you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, and attachments, and use it to respond to your request. Do not send Telegram verification codes, passwords, or session files to support.
Permissions and background activity
- Network access and network status: connect to Telegram, transfer media, and apply your network preferences. The website APK version also uses the network for updates.
- Notifications: show download progress and status.
- Foreground download service: keep downloads running when the app is not on screen, with the Android service notification.
- Storage access: save media. Older Android versions may require storage permission; newer versions use Android's media storage facilities or a folder you select through the system picker.
- Install updates: the website APK version may ask you to allow APK installation when you choose to update. The Google Play version does not request this permission.
You can manage available permissions in Android Settings. Restricting a permission may limit the corresponding feature.
Analytics, advertising, and sharing
The Android app does not include advertising or analytics tracking SDKs. We do not sell personal information or use the app's data for personalized advertising.
Data is handled by Telegram for Telegram features, by the services delivering updates when you use the website APK version, and by our support communication provider when you contact us. If you choose to share a saved file, the app you select receives access to that file and handles it under its own privacy policy.
This policy covers the Android app. If you visit our website, including this policy page, the website's data and analytics practices are described in our Website and Browser Extension Privacy Policy.
Retention and deletion
Signing out: signing out of an account in the app requests termination of that Telegram session and removes its local account record and TDLib storage as the sign-out process completes. It does not delete your Telegram account, your messages on Telegram, your download history, or media already exported to a public or selected folder.
Cached media: use the app's cache controls to manage cached media. Clearing cached media is separate from deleting exported files or ending a Telegram session.
Download history and saved files: use the app's history controls to remove completed or other finished download records. Clearing history does not itself delete exported media. You can delete exported files through your device's file manager or the app that manages the selected folder.
Clearing app data or uninstalling: Android's clear-storage and uninstall controls remove local app data. Media exported to public Downloads or a folder you selected can remain and must be deleted separately. Clearing local data is not the same as ending a session on Telegram's servers; you can review and terminate sessions in Telegram's device settings. Existing backups are managed separately through your device or backup provider.
Requests to us: contact [email protected] about information you have provided to us through support. We may need information sufficient to verify and locate your request. We cannot remotely erase files stored only on your device or delete data held by Telegram; use the relevant device controls or Telegram's own account and privacy controls.
Security
The app uses Android's private app storage for internal records and session data, and TDLib's encrypted communication with Telegram. Update APK downloads use HTTPS. Exported media is stored in the location you choose and is subject to that location's access controls.
Protect access to your device and Telegram account, and review active Telegram sessions if your device is lost or shared. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.
Children
The app is not intended for children below the minimum age required to use Telegram in their country. Users must also meet any applicable local age requirements for using this app.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The published policy will show its last updated date.
